THE MOUNTAIN

Years after I had found myself some sort of ending to a particular journey I had, I will find someone asking about it and I will find myself telling that story with poetic justice.

“What’s up?” I will hear. And I will look up accordingly. Heheh…

There was treasure atop a certain mountain, and this is what my friend will be asking about in that years to come. I will say, “It was a hard struggle to climb up that mountain. The terrain will change from friendly to harsh to downright deadly without any warning. And I slipped and slid down many times but back then I have always managed to get back up and climb again.

“When I think about it now, I can’t imagine where I got the energy or the motivation from. It is no longer relevant.”

“Yes. But what’s up there?”

“A treasure. A treasure so precious every man will fight for it whether they knew it or not, willingly or unwillingly. But after all that fight and struggle, after you’ve won or lost, you would then be faced with the ultimate truth. At least, it was truth enough for me.”

“What was it? What’s up?”

I looked up again, imagining that mountain and that struggle and that treasure, before eventually saying:

“It’s cold up there…”

Lagi2 terbukti seorang Tomas Soejakto memang piawai dalam memilih kata2 dahsyat…
Mungkin kalo seorang Shakespeare blum lahir dan Tomas yg menulis, seluruh dunia mungkin akan mengenal Tomas Soejakto…

    Salut mas!…

    (Peace!*)

Thanks, Jalz. Agak2 berlebihan sih, pujiannya… Untungnya gue juga punya ego yang berlebihan, jadi everything’s okay-lah. Hahahaha….
